Female Founders Business Brunchin'

What is Female Founders Business Brunchin’?

On the morning of Friday, 14 March, Thrive and Barclays Eagle Labs (Brighton) will host a stimulating morning of talks, networking opportunities and a healthy brunch.

What’s the theme of the brunch?

Every brunch has a dedicated theme, and the theme for our upcoming brunch is ‘Create and Collaborate’.

In between the two talks, you will have the chance to network with other female founders, creatives and changemakers over a healthy, plant-based brunch, catered by Smorl’s.

Who is speaking at the brunch?

Our two speakers are Emer Gillespie and Lucy Butt.

Emer Gillespie is Founder of Spark & Bell, a purpose-driven B Corp™ lighting design studio from Brighton. Established in Brighton in 2015, Spark & Bell is a custom handmade lighting business committed to bringing high-quality, bespoke lighting directly to consumers and interior designers.

With a belief that local community, collaboration and enduring products are at the centre of a sustainable business, Emer sits on the steering group for Interior Design Declares, is a member of Making Design Circular, a net zero champion for Brighton Chamber of Commerce, and a signatory of the Better Business Act. She has shared her views on panel discussions at interior design fair, Decorex, and is a voice for positive change in the lighting and design industries.

Lucy Butt is the Founder and CEO of Bramber Bakehouse - an award-winning charity empowering women who have experienced abuse, exploitation and displacement. With a decade of experience in the Violence Against Women & Girls (VAWG) sector, she has successfully founded, scaled, and sustained impactful programmes which drive long-term change. Lucy is passionate about building strength-based, sustainable solutions through high-quality social enterprise initiatives, ensuring that charitable work is both transformational and lasting.

Bramber Bakehouse works alongside victims of domestic abuse, survivors of human trafficking, asylum seekers and refugees to break the cycles of poverty, violence and disadvantage. Their trauma-informed programme is a direct response to the situation women face as a result of their past experiences. Learning together in the kitchen fosters community, increases self-esteem, improves mental health and develops trust. Combine this with their tailored wellbeing sessions, transferable life skills lessons and future-proof support, it’s a recipe for success.
